![]() Fermoy’s Johnny O’Keeney reversed the form book when Noel O’Callaghan who defeated him at the Kilkenny Open three weeks ago. O’Keeney recorded at 3 games to 1 victory over his clubmate and the former multiple All Ireland champion. After missing a few open tournaments due to injury, Aisling Hickey bounced back with a win over Elaine Murphy in an all Tipperary women’s open singles final. In the end, the Rossmore athlete has 3-0 victory over her Templederry rival. Open doubles title went to Johnny O’Keeney and Joe Devenney(Ballinrobe) in the Men’s Doubles final while Ciara Noonan (Fermoy) and Aisling Hickey won the Women’s Open doubles. Fifty eight athletes competed in the this year’s Castlebar Open with 104 matches played over the weekend in courts at Castlebar, Ballinrobe & Carnacon. The Tipperary athlete won her very first Open Singles when she defeated Thea Coleman of Mitchelstown by 3 games to 2.

Promotions following the Kilkenny Open are Joseph Farrell(Arklow) D to C , Shane Brennan(Clogh/Moneenroe) Novice to D, Grace Hearn(Templeudigan) Novice to D and Elaine Murphy(Templederry) B to Open. ![]() Someone who will need no introduction to those of you frequenting the Racquetball circuit and the worthy winner of our first Player of the Month for 2025 👀.. a round of applause for Toni Neary 👏🏻 Toni hails from the Arklow Racquetball Club and some say was born into the Neary family with a racket in her hand 🤭 It has been a great month for Toni who has won the Women’s Open Singles title in Leinster and at the Women’s Open, The Over 30 All-Ireland Women’s Singles Title and Over 30 All-Ireland Women’s Doubles Title with partner Ber O’Callaghan 🏆 Toni was also a member of the Irish Racquetball squad who represented Ireland at the World Racquetball Championships in Texas in late 2025 🇮🇪 Outside of competing, Toni is a valued member of the Arklow Racquetball Committee and the newly appointed treasurer on the Executive Committee with us here in the RAI - Safe to say well respected both on and off the courts and a wonderful role model for our younger Racquetball ladies to look up to 💪🏻 Congratulations Toni The Junior Irish Open, held on March 1st, showcased Ireland’s most promising young racquetball players, with thrilling matches across all age groups. The event highlighted the depth of talent in junior racquetball, as players battled for top honors and displayed exceptional sportsmanship. Standout Performances Across the Divisions The tournament featured intense competition, with Conor Buggy** securing the U9 Boys’ gold, while Sophie Kehoe claimed victory in the U11 Girls’ division. In the U11 Boys' category, Jack O’Brien emerged as champion, fending off strong challenges from his competitors. In the U13 divisions, Eva Horgan and James Byrne took home gold in the girls’ and boys’ competitions, respectively. The U15 categories saw Sophie O’Flynn and Ryan Lawlor claim the top spots, showcasing their skill and determination. The U17 divisions featured some of the day’s most competitive matches. Megan Coleman secured the U17 Girls’ gold, while Joseph Farrell triumphed in the U17 Boys’ final. Sportsmanship and Determination The Plate competitions provided another opportunity for players to display their resilience. Naoise Higgins (U11 Girls), David Fitzgerald (U11 Boys), Libby Cowman (U13 Girls), Charlie Walsh (U13 Boys), Darragh O’Callaghan (U15 Boys), Niamh Murphy (U17 Girls), and Jack Carroll (U17 Boys) all emerged victorious in their respective categories. A special highlight of the tournament was the Sportsperson of the Tournament award, which was presented to Diarmuid Ryan of Ballyanne for his outstanding attitude, respect, and commitment to the game. Finally the prestigious Aisling Hynes Memorial Cup was once again presented to the club who accumulated the most points through final standings in the competition. We would like to congratulate Fermoy Racquetball Club on retaining the cup for the third year running, pulling ahead with 6 points over second place Ballyanne. Well done Fermoy !
