There was a good entry of fifty-eight junior athletes enter comprising of 34 boys and 24 girls at the All Ireland Junior Even Championships played in Ballinrobe & Castlebar on February 15th. In the Girls Under 18 Singles, Cara Delaney(Galmoy) won her 4th All Ireland Junior title when she defeated Abbie O’Meara (Fermoy) in the final. There was no Boys Under 18 Singles. The last four in the Boys Under 16 Singles were all players from the Clogh/Moneenroe Club with Ryan Lawlor defeating clubmate Jack Carroll in the finals. The Girls under 16 title was won by Hannah Noonan of Fermoy. Sophie O’Flynn from the same club was the runner up. In the Girls Under 14, Eva Horgan of Mitchelstown won her very first All-Ireland Junior title. Second was Abbie Delaney from Galmoy in Co Kilkenny. The Boys Under 14 was the most competitive division of the day. Shay Phelan of Horeswood in Co Wexford was the winner. The runner up was Danny Quigley from Ballyanne. Sean Noonan(Fermoy) excelled in the Boys Under 12 division when won his 5th junior All Ireland title.. The silver medalist was Oscar Burke, also from the Fermoy club. In the Girls Under 12 division, Lucy Murphy dominated and won her 3rd All Ireland Junior title. Ballyanne’s Sophie Kehoe was the deserving silver medalist. Finally, in the Under 10 divisions, Greta McCormack has a huge battle to win 3 games to 2 against Millie Quigley of Ballyanne in the Girls Under 10 while in the Boys Under 10, Jack O’Brien from Horeswood is the champion with Billy Lyng of Ballyanne in Co Wexford the runner up.
