The Kingscourt Open delivered an action-packed weekend with fierce competition across all divisions last weekend 8th and 9th of February. In the Men’s Open Singles, Johnny O’Keeney (Fermoy) showcased his skill in a nail-biting five-game match, edging out Keelan O’Gorman (Araglin) 3-2. O’Keeney continued his winning streak in the Men’s Open Doubles, partnering with Joe Devenney (Ballinrobe) to defeat Dara McNamara (Mitchelstown) and O’Gorman in another intense match. The Women’s Open Singles saw a commanding performance from Antonia Neary (Arklow), who secured a 3-0 victory over Abbie O’Meara (Fermoy). Neary, alongside Susan Farrell (Arklow), also triumphed in the Women’s Open Doubles after a hard-fought 3-2 win against O’Meara and Ciara Noonan (Fermoy). Other notable wins include James Bolger (Clogh) dominating the Men’s C/D Singles with a 3-0 victory, while Noel O’Callaghan (Fermoy) clinched the Men’s 50+ Singles title in straight games. Brendan Noonan (Fermoy) finally seized his long awaited novice title after a hard-fought battle, showcasing his resilience and determination. Rising star Josh Lawlor (Clogh) impressed in the Boy’s Under 16, defeating Shane O’Dowd (Clogh). It was a well run tournament with a lot of exciting matches and great sportsmanship all around.
