The European Championships consists of a team competition where nations compete against each other for the European Nations Cup. There is separate men's and women's competitions.
Also , the European Championships has Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles,Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles to determine the European Champions in those divisions.
Selection of the National Team for the 2025 European Championships will be decided by trials on the 24th May.

National Senior Team Trials & Selection
National Team Selection
A team of 4 men and 4 women will be selected to represent Ireland at the 2025 European Championship.
The selection will made by trials.
Trial date is Saturday 24th May. (Venue to be decided)
A further 4 places in individual divisions of men’s and women’s singles and doubles is reserved for Irish players.
Funding & Support
Those selected on the team will be financially supported by the RAI (amounts to be decided) and by the manager/coach in training for the Championships.
Those who will take place extra places on offer by the ERF will not be financially supported and must bear the costs of competing.
Grants for playing in overseas tournament are not applicable to the European Championships.
Fee.
A fee €25.00 will be charged to each player who compete in the trials.

General Rules
- To represent Ireland in International Competitions, a player must prove Irish nationality by producing an Irish Passport or Birth Cert.
- Players who are citizens of other countries that have Irish parents may also apply for selection on the Irish National team.
- Where there is joint nationality, such players may only represent one country and thereafter be subject to the E.R.F and I.R.F Rules on such matters including having to wait 2 years since his/her last international representation if changing countries.
- Players resident in Ireland must be a member of an affiliated club or have individual membership of the RAI, have played in the Open Singles Division in 3 Open Tournaments in the past 12 months (prior to trials).
- Players who have emigrated and players of dual nationality living abroad, are permitted to submit

- When trials for places on the National team are arranged, all players must compete at the trials in
- A code of conduct will apply for National team members and officials taking part in International
- The code of conduct must be signed by team members and officials upon selection.
- Failure to sign the code of conduct will lead to automatic forfeiture of team position.
National Senior Team Trials & Selection
- When it is necessary, trials for the Irish Team will take place on a selected date .
- The date of the trials will be listed on the Tournament Calendar.
- Format & rules for the trials will be presented to players on the panel at least one week ahead of the trials.
- In the event of a player withdrawing from the trials and such a withdrawal making a substantial difference to the format of the trials, a new format will be decided by the team manager
- Players applying for Panel inclusion must be paid up registered players on the RAI Klubfunder platform.
