Coach Developer

Coach Developer Role & Training

The role of the Coach Developer is an extremely important one. Coach Developers will educate and support coaches throughout their coaching career, having been trained in the areas of Coach Education course delivery and Coach Support. They will also be introduced to aspects of Programme Design, which will directly benefit Racquetball Ireland. .
As a Coach Developer for Racquetball Ireland, the main aim for him/her is to deliver coaching courses from our Coaching Pathway to new coaches and to provide support for these coaches.

Main Duties of a Coach Developer

Course Delivery
Deliver Racquetball Ireland’s Coaching Pathway Foundation Course to future coaches (usually only one/two weekends per year).
  • Prepare and deliver high quality courses in accordance with the syllabus and general requirements for the course
  • To maintain high quality standards in course delivery
  • Observe and evaluate coaches and provide constructive feedback
  • Facilitate group interaction to help participants, share, solve and discuss different issues
Administration
  • Ensure all participants are fully aware of the requirements to receive qualification from Racquetball Ireland, where applicable.
  • Ensure all necessary  paperwork is completed to ensure all coaches complete the course e.g. sign in sheets, forms, etc.
  • Distribute the course participant resource material.
Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Attend any further training provided by Sport Ireland, if required
  • Act as a mentor to other Coach Developer’s and Coaches where required.

Time Commitment
  • Deliver only 1/2 courses per year.
  • Provide coach support once a course is completed, where required.
  • Travel may be required
Coach Developers delivering any Racquetball Ireland Coaching Pathway Courses will receive travel and daily expenses.
Want to Be a Coach Developer?
In order to become a Coach Developer, an individual is required to complete Coach Developer Training provided by Sport Ireland. Training will involve attendance at five weekends which usually takes place in Limerick. The course fee is €1,200.
Racquetball Ireland encourage anyone interested in the becoming a Coach Developer to apply. We accept applications/nominations/interest on a rolling basis.
Ideally, the applicant:
  • Will have completed our Foundation Level Coaching Course
  • Must be Garda Vetted
  • Have previous Coaching experience/Interest in Coaching
For successful applicants, Racquetball Ireland will cover the course fee, travel & accommodation expenses as well as a out-of-pocket expenses.
