After a 3 year absence of this tournament, the 2023 Tralee Open took place in Tralee Regional Sports & Leisure Centre, this past weekend, 21st & 22nd January. In the Mens Open Singles, Johnny O’Keeney defeated his Fermoy clubmate Noel O’Callaghan in the final 3-1. It wasn’t an easy journey for either finalist as there were two five set battles in the semi finals with O'Callaghan defeating Ken Cottrell and O'Keeney defeating Brian Byrne respectively who made the journey to the final difficult. In the Womens Open Singles, Aisling Hickey took the title in a five set thriller against Castlebar’s Majella Haverty winning 3-2. Hickey and partner Antonia Neary also took home the Open Doubles title. Other noteworthy wins include Chris Carey of Fermoy who won the Mens B Singles defeating Odhran Moloney of Galmoy. We saw a great entry from Naomh Abán Racquetball club and also took home some honors; Dan Healy Winner of Mens Novice B Singles and Karen Hoare Runner up Womens Novice.
