This years All Ireland Championships saw Keelan O'Gorman from Araglin secured his inaugural All Ireland and Open Title, while Aisling Hickey of Rossmore maintained her winning streak, clinching her Title for the 12th consecutive year. O Gorman defeated Joe Dillion(Kingscourt) in a 3 games to 1 in a stellar final while Aisling hickey defeated Majella Haverty(Castlebar) in 3 straight games in the Ladies Final. The Men's B category witnessed an intense battle as Darragh McNamara(Mitchelstown) emerged victorious over Chris Carey(Fermoy), triumphing with a nail-biting 3-2 game score. In the Men's Novice Singles, Leigh O'Brien asserted his dominance, claiming the title with a straight 3-0 game victory over Shane Brennan (Kilkenny). Arklow Racquetball Club excelled with four titles to their name, including Michael Barnes winning the Men's B Singles, Colm O'Keeffee securing the Men's D Singles, and Joseph Farrell clinching the Men's Novice Plate. Antonia Neary completed the collection by partnering with Aisling Hickey to win the Ladies Open Doubles. Rossmore also had a remarkable showing, taking home four titles. Seamus Armstrong and Eamonn Fogarty secured the Novice Doubles Title, while Aisling Hickey claimed both the Open Singles and Open Doubles titles alongside partner Antonia Neary (Arklow). Fermoy showcased their talent by winning three titles, including Johnny O'Keeney and Patrick Hanley securing the Men's Open Doubles Title, and Abbie O'Meara claiming the Women's Novice Singles Title. In the Men's Intermediate Doubles, Kilkenny players Padraic O'Dowd and Tomas Coonan defeated Rossmore's Seamus Armstrong and Eamonn Fogarty with a 3 games to 1.. The Women's D Singles saw Niamh Murphy from Templeudigan triumph over Cara Delaney from Galmoy. However, the tables turned in the Women's Intermediate Doubles, with Cara and her partner Caylee Hogan from Galmoy clinching the title over Niamh and her partner Fiona Kyne from Kilkenny in a closely contested match that went to five games. Wicklow, has carved out a reputation in the RAI C/D circuit. A fierce competitor in both singles and doubles, Elliot recently clinched victory in the CD Singles at the Kilkenny Open and has been a regular contender in the CD Doubles Finals. His talents have not gone unnoticed, as Elliot was chosen to represent his club at the German Open in Hamburg, Germany with the Elite Squad in April. There, he showcased remarkable progress in his training, securing the Men's B Title at the Open. Congratulations to Elliot for being named Player of the Month for March. Three Irish athletes took gold at the German Open played in Hamburg on the 7 th & 8th of April, Majella Haverty(Castlebar) Women’s Open Singles, Elliot Young(Arklow) Men’s B Singles and Brendan Noonan (Fermoy) Men’s C Singles. Majella Haverty defeated Carolina Luque of Mexico in the Women’s Open Singles final by 3 games to 2. Having lost the first two games, she piled on the pressure in the next three to become only the 2 nd Irish player to win an Open Singles at the German Open. In the Men’s B Singles Final, Elliot Young (Arklow) defeated Gary Hodges(Germany) by 3 games to 1 while the C Singles Final was an all Irish affair with Brendan Noonan(Fermoy) achieving a 3-2 victory over Brendan Delaney(Galmoy) The Irish contingent also had success in Doubles with Abbie O’Meara(Fermoy) and Hannah Noonan(Fermoy) defeating Cara Delaney(Galmoy) and Caylee Hogan(Mitchelstown) 3 games to 1 in the Women’s Open Doubles final. There was a number of runner up spots, Johnny O’Keeney(Fermoy) and Ben Carey(Araglen) Men’s Open Doubles and Johnny O’Keeney and Ciara Noonan in the Mixed Doubles.
