 Following a successful AGM yesterday, August 25th in Tullamore, we are pleased to announce to you the 2019/2020 Racquetball Association of Ireland Committee. We would like to welcome new comittee members Rosie Downey (Moycullen) as our new Anti-Doping Officer and Brendan Carey (Araglen) as our new Vice President. With that we would like to thank the service of exiting committee members Michael Kelly who has served as Anti Doping Officer for the last four years and to Noel Kehoe, who has done great work as our Children's Officer for the last five years.  The 2019 Irish Team for the 20th ERF European Championships held in Hamburg, Germany officially announced.
Men's Team: Johnny O'Keeney (Fermoy), Mark Murphy (Kilkenny), Eoin Tynan (Fethard), Ken Cottrell (Kilkenny) Women's Team: Olivia Downey (Moycullen), Katie Kenny (Castlebar), Toni Neary (Arklow), Majella Haverty (Castlebar) Team Captains: Ken Cottrell & Majella Haverty Team Manager: Johnny O'Keeney The event will be held at the Sport Department which has been the site of past European events. The team compete on 5th-7th September 2019. The team will compete in the team event before proceeding to the individual events with the hope of being crowned European Champions.  The Racquetball Association of Ireland will introduce a Hall of Fame award to coincide with 40th Anniversary of the Association.
There will be 2 category of awards, for athletes who have excelled in the sport and contributors who have excelled in the promotion of the sport. Athletes must be retired from the sports for 3 years before they can be inducted into the Hall of Fame and members of the RAI executive committee are not allowed to be nominated. The committee has decided in conjunction with the 40th anniversary that six people will be inducted into the Hall of Fame and an announcement will be made shortly. |
