Noel O’Callaghan(Fermoy) produced his best racquetball of the season when winning both the Open Singles and the 50+ Singles at the 31st Castlebar Open in association with TheaPharma and Mayo Crystal.
In the Open Singles Final, he defeated Johnny O’Keeney(Fermoy) 3-1. His victories sets him up nicely for the forthcoming All Ireland Championships in Kilkenny on the 13 th & 14th April.

Darragh Joyce (Castlebar) was also a double winner at the 31st Castlebar Open. He won both the Men’s Novice Singles and the Men’s CD Singles. Defeating Elliot Young of Arklow by 3 game to nil in the CD Singles Final he went on to defeat Damien Greene(Callan) by a similar score line in the Men’s Novice Singles Final.

Aisling Hickey continued her winning ways in the Women’s Open Singles. She defeated Elaine Murphy of Templederry by 3 games to 1.

Introducing Niamh Murphy, a force to be reckoned with in the Racquetball world.
Hailing from the Templeudigan club in Wexford, Niamh is no stranger to the RAI circuit, dominating both the 40x20 and 60x30 arenas.
Fearless in competition, Niamh enters multiple divisions and competitions, currently juggling an impressive five separate leagues.
In Templeudigan 60x30, she’s conquered the Women’s League and is now taking on the Men’s Doubles. Meanwhile, at Ballyanne 60x30, she’s stormed through the Semi-Finals, securing her spot in the Men’s Singles Final.
Over at Gusserane 60x30, Niamh continues her winning streak in the Men’s singles, eyeing a spot in the Semi-Finals. And in Horeswood 40x20, she’s dominating the league, poised for success in the Men’s Singles.
But Niamh’s prowess extends beyond local leagues…She’s a force to be reckoned with in the Women’s CD on the National Circuit, clinching victory in both the CD Singles and CDN Doubles alongside partner Caylee Hogan at the Women’s Open in February.
Not content with just winning titles, Niamh is also a dedicated ambassador for racquetball in Leinster. She generously devotes her time to coaching players across multiple clubs, from Templeudigan to Ballyanne, Horeswood, Davistown, and Gusserane.

The Kilkenny Open 2024 witnessed a remarkable turnout, boasting 52 entries and an impressive tally of 94 matches played. Among the standout performers, Noel O’Callaghan distinguished himself by clinching both the Men's Open Singles Title and the 50+ Title, while Aisling Hickey secured victory in both the Women’s Open Singles and the Women's Open Doubles alongside her partner, Niamh Murphy.

In a captivating final, Hickey showcased her athleticism, triumphing over Elaine Murphy with a commanding 3 games to 1 victory. Meanwhile, O’Callaghan demonstrated his demonstrated his skills by beating Johnny O'Keeney in straight sets across three games.

A special mention goes to Leigh O'Brien, who claimed victory in his inaugural Novice Event, earning a well-deserved promotion to the rank of D player.
