Aisling Hickey (Rossmore )on left won the Open Singles at the 3rd Women's Open held in Newport Co Tipperary. She defeated clubmate Kate Ryan on right who makes a return to racquetball after a lenghty absence by 2 games to nil. Thanks to all those who made the weekend a great success, the event took place in Lakeside Sport & Fitness Centre & Carnacon. Thanks to the many sponsors who contributed in any way. Lots of planning before these events makes the tournament run smooth, many work tirelessly to make these events even possible. Thanks to those who traveled from all parts of Ireland to participate. Noel O`Callaghan(Fermoy) continued his winning ways at the Ballinrobe Open defeating Padraic Ryder(Newport) in the Open Singles Finals and Joe Devenney(Ballinrobe) in the Men's 40+ Final. Rossmore`s Aisling Hickey won the Women's Singles defeating Castlebar`s Katie Kenny by 2 games to nil in the final. Other Singles winners were Ray Keleghan(Moycullen - Novice Singles, Padraic Benson(Moycullen) C/D Singles, Michael O`Loan(Belfast), B Singles and Sarah Ainsworth(Castlebar), Women's D Novice Singles. We have a great schedule all over the country to keep us involved either participating or by simply being there to support each other. The first of this months tournaments takes place in Ballinrobe Co.Mayo, on the 17th & 18th November, in the Lakeside Sports & Fitness Center. The next event on the calendar is the all important "Womens Open" taking place in Newport Co.Tipperary on 25th November, in St.Josephs College. This is the perfect opportunity for those woman looking to get back involved with racquetball. The juniors get their chance to shine on 2nd December when Fermoy & Mitchelstown host the "All Ireland Junior Championships" this event is open to boys & girls. The last date in our calendar will be on 9th December when the "Provincial Championships takes place with Leinster event being held in the Coral Leisure Centre in Arklow and the Ulster event in Kingscourt Handball & Racquetball Club. |
