O'Callaghan wins record 25th

At the All Ireland Singles & Doubles Championships held in the Co Cork venues of Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Araglen and Kilworth on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th April,  Fermoy's Noel O'Callaghan won his 25th All Ireland Men's Singles title.  O'Callaghan faced Mark Murphy(Kilkenny) in the final but shortly after the opening rallies, Murphy went down injured and was unable to continue.
Aisling Hickey(Rossmore) recorded her 10th All Ireland Women's Singles win in a row when she defeated Castlebar's Majella Haverty by 2 games to nil.
In the Men's Open Doubles, Johnny O'Keeney and Darragh O'Donoghue took the title when they defeated Padraic Ryder and Conor Skehan(Newport & Fermoy) in the final. The match went to the tiebreaker but is was the Fermoy & Araglen partnership who prevailed in the end.
Consolation for Majella Haverty and her Castlebar clubmate Katie Kenny when they won the Women's Open Doubles with a victory over Arklow sisters Antonia Neary and Susan Farrell. This match also went to a tiebreaker.
Ken Cottrell(Galmoy) in winning the Men's B Singles became one of the few players to have his name inscribed on every divisional singles cup uo to and including B Singles. He defeated Araglen's Keelan O'Gorman in the final.
Waterford's Jack Skehan playing in the Araglen club's colours won the Men's C Singles  defeating Scot Young of Arklow in the Final.
However for Scott Young, the Men's D Singles title was his with a 2 -0 victory over Mike Lynch playing for Moycullen.
There was no Women's B Singles or C Singles but the D Singles was contested and Kathleen Conway (Castlebar) was crowned the champion. Sabieta Lynch won the silver.
Arklow Racquetball Club won its second All Ireland Singles of the weekend title when James Smith had a 2 -0 win over Dara McNamara of Mitchelstown in the Men's Novice Singles Final..  The Men's Novice B Singles title was won by Enda Gannon (Clogh).
The Women's Novice Singles was a competitive division and Niamh Murphy became the first Templeudigan player to win a racquetball All Ireland Championship. She defeated Tara Carey of Araglen in the final to become the Women's Novice Singles Champion. Ciara Noonan(Fermoy) was the winners of The Novice B Singles.
Veterans Jimmy Gannon and Michael Lynch (Arklow & Tralee) were crowned All Ireland Intermediate Doubles Champions following their 2-0 win over Don Lawlor(Clogh) and Mike Lynch(Moycullen).
Jimmy Sheridan(Ballinrobe) and Tim O'Connor(Tralee) teamed up to make successful partnership in becoming All Ireland Champions in Novice Doubles while Tara Carey(Araglen) and Abbie O'Meara(Fermoy) are the All Ireland Champions in Women's Novice Doubles.
